SENIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1
CTG 1-21, Fr. Dalton’s 0-11
We travelled to TEG Cusack Park last Saturday evening to face Fr. Dalton’s in the opening round of the Senior Hurling Championship and got our campaign off to a winning start. It was a closely fought first half, with Niall O’Brien keeping the scoreboard moving from frees, while Dylan Corrigan added an important point from play. Liam Varley also chipped in with a score before the break, and although Niall was unlucky to miss a penalty late in the half, we held a narrow advantage at the interval.
HALF TIME SCORE: CTG 0-7, Fr. Dalton’s 0-6.
We took control after the restart with a much improved second-half display. Dylan Corrigan’s goal proved to be a real turning point as we began to open up a gap on the scoreboard. Niall continued to convert his frees, while points from Jack Gallagher, Liam Varley, Peter Murphy, Jack Murphy, Johnny Bermingham, David Lynch and Shane Clavin kept the scoreboard moving as we pulled away to record a deserved thirteen-point victory. Congratulations to Dylan Corrigan and Alan Conlon on making their senior championship debuts for the club. Dylan marked the occasion with an impressive 1-2, while Alan also had a fine game in the back line. We play Clonkill in round two in two weeks time.
