CTG 1-22, LLG 0-27

We faced last year’s finalists, Lough Lene Gaels, in Round 3 of the Senior Hurling Championship in TEG Cusack Park on Sunday evening. LLG made the better start and built up an early lead, but Niall O’Brien kept us in touch with a series of well-struck frees. Scores from Jack Murphy, Shane Clavin, Peter Murphy, Jack Gallagher and Niall from play helped us settle into the game. Niall had a penalty saved midway through the half, but we responded well and he later found the net, while Liam Varley added another point to leave us leading 1-12 to 0-12 at half-time.

The second half was closely contested as both sides continued to exchange points. Early scores from Niall O’Brien, Shane Clavin, Jack Murphy, Dylan Corrigan and Liam Varley helped us maintain our advantage, with Niall continuing to convert frees. LLG, however, finished the stronger of the two sides and hit the closing scores to edge ahead and claim a two-point victory. We now play Raharney in Round 4 in two weeks time.
